What Is This?

Why have a site dedicated to women in the queer spectrum? We're a minority and it's nice to see identifiable women in the entertainment business do well. There is a whole undercurrent of LGBTQ women in the music business, living, breathing and making it on their own terms. This is a space to highlight and champion them as well as honor those that paved the way.

From my very early days of marveling at Ani Difranco to my current musical obsessions, I have been a major fan of queer women artists. I have been a musician and singer myself for the past 20 years. I have organized and stage managed dyke march festivals, as well as women-centered music events. I even minored in LGBTQ studies in college and have been involved in queer activism since my coming out days as a young 14 year old girl.

There will be biweekly postings accenting major and indie label artists on tour, album reviews, local city performers from San Diego to London and everywhere in between, artists we should know, artists that came before, and finally the straight artists that appreciate us. As the ball starts rolling, there will be monthly interviews that will be posted as well. I eventually hope to have a LGBTQ database of out women artists who we can celebrate for their courage.

This will be a passionate journey that I can't wait to share with you all.
